Crazed Animal

I took part in a weekly little sketch contest a while back. The brief was to paint a cute bunny girl with a crazed animal. Taking inspiration from one of the figures on my computer and from my cat, I entered this.
I still think it's funny.

Finally

After what seems like an eternity but is actually only a little over a week, the deed is done. Now I can rest.

Uma again

I spent all day trying to make something work that was (now that I look at it) clearly flawed from the get go. This isn't it. I really like the shapes going on in her face and the position of her body so I'm going to take this through to a final but not right away. I have other open projects that need to be completed first and despite the fact that this one is probably more fun I'm going to get through the others first.

Morning Sketch

Used a glamour shot of Liz Hurley for this sketch. Not the best reference for a caricature as they tend to be taken from angles that remove all the character from the face, not to mention the good ol' photoshop airbrushing but the truth is that I'm not looking to achieve a likeness for this one. Just looking for some traditional cartoon seduction like you could find in days of old. Remember Jessica Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Yeah, you know what I'm talking about.

Uma Thuma

One night many years ago I smoked a heroic dose of a foul tasting substance and watched a really lousy version of Robin Hood which I can't really remember on account of having the giggles which was sparked off by someone mispronouncing Uma's name.

This is just a quick sketch before going to finish my book (damn you Robin Hobb! I never get anything done once I get my hands on one of your books) but I have an idea for some film parody illustrations and Kill Bill is one of them. Not that this is part of it in the slightest. It was just on my computer as reference and I needed to sketch something before calling it a night. I will probably paint it though. The colours are too vibrant not to. And those eyes... Who could resist?

Pete Postlethwaite in living colour

Which is more than can be said for Pete himself sadly. I know that this is highly reminiscent of a particular star trek character but it's still funny. I might round those ears out a little though. Actually, now that I think about it, it's kind of reminiscent of two separate star trek characters from two different star trek shows.
But still funny.

Anna Paquin In Technicolour

I decided to throw in a couple of vampire teeth puncture wounds just to see if I could. I think that they may be a little understated though. I may have another crack at it, keep the bites as they are but exaggerate the throbbing veins underneath.
